Big Ambitions Roadmap — Post-1.0 Plans & DLC Trackers
The official Big Ambitions roadmap tracked: what shipped in EA 0.8 to 0.11 and 1.0, what slipped its window, and when the Costa Del Sol DLC could land.
Last updated:
The official Big Ambitions roadmap exists, it is public, and it already names the game's first DLC. Hovgaard Games maintains a "Living Roadmap" on its website — the current published version is dated December 28, 2024 — laying out the end of Early Access (updates 0.8 through 0.11), the 1.0 full release ("The Sky Is the Limit"), and a Costa Del Sol DLC set on the Spanish coast. This page tracks that roadmap against what actually shipped, because the developer's own caveats say plans can and do move.
One framing note before the table: the developer explicitly describes the roadmap as "not promises but a glimpse into what we're working towards", with no committed release dates. The studio has also publicly committed to a "quality over speed" cadence, with a minimum of roughly three months between major updates. Patience is part of the deal.
What the roadmap promised — and what shipped
EA 0.8 — Optimization #3: BizMan scheduler improvements for bigger stores and offices, character look and animation updates, and code cleanup. Shipped as planned during Early Access.
EA 0.9 — The Struggle: the Industry City industrial area with larger warehouses, a product progression system that limits wholesale purchases and introduces shortages and backorders (making factories the intended solution), a reworked Uncle Fred tutorial, and a delivery driver job for your character. Shipped as planned.
EA 0.10 — Broadway: Show Business: cinema and theater player businesses, a Broadway area makeover, employee AI improvements, the blueprint editor with "complete creative freedoms" from the main menu, an interior designer hand tool, and factory improvements with auto-connecting conveyor belts. Shipped as planned.
EA 0.11 — Let the Good Times Roll: Steam Workshop mod support ("The Workshop Awakens"), energy drinks for gyms and two new office business types. Partially as planned — the original roadmap entry also placed The Hamptons, boats and the personal driver in 0.11, and those moved forward into the 1.0 release instead.
1.0 — The Sky Is the Limit (August 28, 2026)
The full release shipped on August 28, 2026 after roughly three and a half years of Early Access. Confirmed in the launch announcements: The Hamptons neighborhood with a player-owned private mansion, a personal driver, food delivery, an HQ pricing manager, a banking update and minigames.
Two roadmap items need an asterisk. The 1.0 version of the roadmap promised JFK Airport — with player-runnable businesses inside and travel to new locations — plus golf and tennis activities. The launch announcement headlines do not list them, so whether they shipped in 1.0 exactly as drawn is to be confirmed against the full changelog; we will update this page as that is verified. This is exactly the kind of roadmap-vs-reality gap this tracker exists for.
The first DLC: Costa Del Sol
The roadmap's final box is the one to watch: Costa Del Sol, described as Big Ambitions' very first DLC. The pitch — fly from JFK airport to Málaga, Spain, and visit Uncle Fred's luxurious vacation home in Marbella for "a brand new challenging journey". It confirms two things at once: international travel from the airport is part of the plan, and Big Ambitions' city-building future extends beyond New York.
There is no release date or price for Costa Del Sol yet — to be confirmed on both, and the developer's three-months-minimum cadence plus the 1.0 launch mean it is realistically a 2027 discussion. Given the studio's history of shipping roadmap content for free during Early Access, whether some 1.0 follow-ups also arrive as free updates (with only the new region as paid DLC) is unknown until Hovgaard says so.
How the roadmap actually behaved during Early Access
A roadmap is only as good as its follow-through, so here is the track record in plain terms. Of the five Early Access boxes on the current image, 0.8, 0.9 and 0.10 shipped essentially as drawn — the named features, from Industry City to the blueprint editor and conveyor belts, all arrived in their promised updates. The visible wobble came at the end: 0.11's box was pared back to the Workshop and office content, while its headline attractions slid into the 1.0 release instead.
That is not a broken promise; it is how the developer describes the roadmap working. The image itself carries the disclaimer that features may prove unsuitable and be removed, and the "living" label means the whole image gets replaced as priorities shift — the December 28, 2024 version this page tracks is itself a revision. The practical lesson for players is to treat roadmap boxes as ordering rather than scheduling: confident on what comes next, neutral on exactly when.
How to track future updates yourself
Three sources, in order of speed. The official Discord (discord.gg/hovgaardgames) is where day-to-day development chatter lands first. Steam announcements are where every release posts its changelog. And the living roadmap image on bigambitionsgame.com is where the studio lays out the plan — it gets replaced with a new version image as priorities shift, which is exactly what happened between the roadmap's Hamptons placement and the actual release.
We keep this page updated as those sources change, alongside our 1.0 release summary. If a rumor about Big Ambitions' future does not trace back to the Discord, Steam announcements or the roadmap image, treat it as noise.
What this means if you are buying now
The roadmap picture for a new player is simple. The base game on Steam is complete and finished at 1.0 — nothing on the roadmap is required to enjoy hundreds of hours of it, and the entire Early Access update history is already included in the current price. The only announced extra is Costa Del Sol, which will be paid DLC, with no date or price yet; if you would rather buy once and wait, there has never been a better version of Big Ambitions to own than the current one.
For returning players watching the horizon, the signal to watch is the roadmap image itself being replaced — that is how the studio has always telegraphed its next phase, and how pages like this one know it is time to update.
